Emilio Garcia, a former cameraman for rapper Megan Thee Stallion, has taken legal action against the musician, filing a lawsuit in Los Angeles County alleging a hostile work environment and harassment. In the court documents, Garcia claims that Megan, whose legal name is Megan Pete, subjected him to distressing situations, including being forced to witness her engaging in sexual activity with another woman during an incident in Ibiza, Spain, around June 2022.
According to Garcia’s lawsuit, he found himself in an uncomfortable position as he was unable to leave the moving vehicle and was left feeling embarrassed, mortified, and offended by the ordeal. Following the incident, Garcia alleges that Megan instructed him not to discuss what he had witnessed and subjected him to fat-shaming comments during the trip, including remarks such as “spit your food out” and “fat bitch”.
The lawsuit further outlines nine complaints against Megan, her touring business entity, Hot Girl Touring LLC, and her label, Roc Nation. These complaints range from harassment to various wage and labor law violations. Garcia claims that he was not adequately compensated for the extensive hours he worked, which often consumed his entire day, and that he was misclassified as an independent contractor, depriving him of overtime pay and meal breaks.
The legal action against Megan Thee Stallion shines a spotlight on issues of workplace harassment and fair labor practices within the music industry. Garcia’s lawsuit seeks to address the alleged mistreatment he experienced while working for the rapper, highlighting the importance of creating a safe and equitable working environment for all individuals involved in the entertainment business.
As the case unfolds, it underscores the need for accountability and transparency in addressing allegations of misconduct and ensuring that employees are treated with dignity and respect in their professional endeavors.
