Richard Simmons was born Milton Teagle Simmons on July 12, 1948 and was destined for the spotlight. The workout guru is known for his eccentric, flamboyant, and energetic personality and over the years became famous for his weight-loss programs like his “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” aerobics videos.

Richard had quite the impact on pop culture. His over-the-top personality was often imitated, and he was a frequent guest of late-night television and radio talk shows, such as the Late Show with David Letterman and The Howard Stern Show. He retreated from the spotlight around 2014, and after public worry he addressed his fans in a 2016 statement, assuring them he was well but just wanted a break from the pressure of fame.

Unfortunately, Richard died in July 2024 shortly after his 76th birthday.

There’s no denying that Richard Simmons was a pop culture icon.
